Description
The Russian SKS is a semi-automatic carbine rifle developed in the Soviet Union in the 1940s. It was designed as a shorter, lighter alternative to the Mosin-Nagant rifle and chambered for the 7.62x39mm cartridge, the same round used in the AK-47. Though quickly superseded by the AK-47 as the standard service rifle, the SKS remains a popular and historically significant firearm.
